Roger Raveel
Fence
ink and paint on paper
1967
All throughout his oeuvre, Raveel’s drawings are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his paintings, through most of his drawings also have a distinctly autonomous character. The freedom afforded by drawing allows Raveel’s vision to develop undisturbed. Using simple tools – pen, ink, marker, opaque paint, pencil – he sets out to view things in an unforced way, as if for the first time. With control and deliberation, but at the same time spontaneously and intuitively, he uses various techniques in the constant search for new possibilities on paper.
