Roger Raveel
Cactus
From 1948 onwards, Raveel deliberately began to view the world around him with a fresh, new perspective. This led, amongst other things, to a series of still lifes in which he sought to capture the individual character of everyday objects. Flower pots containing plants or cacti also feature in these works. This is a disarming and poetic little piece: simple in form, reduced to its essence, yet no less powerful for it.
