8. Seeing things Roger's way: fields and animals

Fields and animals often feature in Raveel's work. In his day, most of the land was still used for agriculture. Over the course of his life, urbanisation spread and agriculture changed dramatically. This also led to the disappearance of some characteristic features, such as haystacks: piles of hay that were left in the fields after the hay had been shaken.

Here you can see some works in which Raveel depicts the fauna, flora and landscapes of Machelen.
